Session 17: Giant Ants!
The Adventurers return to town to get resupplied and return to the dungeon and run into some Giant Ants.
This is from our November 15, 2023 session. Since our group is scattered around the country, we used Discord for our voice communication and Roll20 for our virtual tabletop.

Everyone had a meal and made plans to head for Zelcor’s
Ferry in the morning.
May 14th
The party went to Zelcor’s Ferry in the morning. Elron spent most of the day
selling off the
loot from the last expedition into the Mouth of Doom. Just about everyone else went
shopping for
supplies and gear.
By mid-afternoon, Elron paid everyone their
share of the
loot.
The party decided to head back to the castle and spend the night there in order to get an earlier start in the morning.
Back at the castle, Lark decided to bind to the
sword that
he found. It turned out to be a Bastard
Sword of Crushing; it seemed to be very good at destroying
inanimate
objects.
Everyone had a good night’s rest.
May 15th
Back to the Mouth of Doom.
The party started out by rechecking some areas that they had been before, to make sure that Blaze’s map was accurate.
Then they went through the room where they had
killed the leeches
two days earlier, they were still there and had begun to decay.
They went east
from there and south after that, to a door that they had passed
before.
The room contained a human, cowering behind a shield. The floor was covered with bones, both human and goblins. There were also weapons and five backpacks.
His name was Gelver and he was the sole
survivor of a party
that was wiped out by goblins. Someone gave him some food and
drink and he offered
to remain with the party until they returned to the surface. His
lantern was
dry and he couldn’t find his way out alone.
The party continued to the right and just before they came to the Temple of the Gods of Chance, Lark, who had gone on ahead, came running back around the corner. He yelled that he had seen a giant spider in the passage ahead.
Right behind him were three giant ants.
Battle began and Elron was nearly bitten in two
by one as it
picked him up in its mandibles. Everyone attacked that one and he
got away just
before the ant died. One of the other ants picked up the body and
moved back as
another ant stepped forward.
Upon seeing this, Gelver screamed and ran back
around the
corner where Artie was guarding the rear.
