Session 76 - Going Home
The adventurers inventory the ghoul’s loot and
return to
Zelcor’s Ferry.
This write-up is based on Kay’s notes from our February 18,
2026 session. Since
our group is scattered around the country, we use Discord
for our voice communication and Roll20
for our virtual tabletop. Thanks to Kay for the write-up and
screen shots.

As
Elron looted the
bodies, and Sinis and Artie guarded the rear, Blaze went down
the ghoul’s
tunnel to check if there were any more coming up. The stench was
almost
unbearable. She travelled down a tunnel carved from the native
stone to the
west where it changed to a finished floor and walls.
The hall ended in a room constructed in a pentacle shape, with a circle and pentacle with writing painted on the floor. There were some coffins and grave goods; it looked like it was originally a tomb. Elron came in after Blaze and saw the loot. Between them, they gathered up what they found into an empty coffin and Blaze levitated it out of the tunnel back to the main hallway and into the lumber room.
List of loot after being ID’s by Sinis:
· 1 pp with Orcus’ face on the head side
· 2,301 gp
· 11 ep
· 4,223 sp
· 2,946 cp
· 19 scrap-metal-grade short swords
· 21 scrap-metal-grade suits of chainmail
· a suit of plate armor
· a suit of dwarf-sized plate armor,
· 16 rotten wooden shields
· 2 steel shields
· 2 maces
· a good short-sword
· a silver dagger
· a short bow
· a quiver with 7 arrows
· a +1 dagger
· a +2 warhammer
· a potion of treasure finding
· flask of wine
· vial of ink
· empty vial
· 2 brass rings
· spool of grey thread
· brass bell
In addition to these items, we also had a long sword from the octagonal room earlier.
Sinis cast his identify magic on the items and discovered the long sword was:
The Archer's Longsword
Melee weapon (martial, longsword), rare
You have a +1 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with this weapon and a +1 to dexterity skill checks while carried.
This magic weapon can be summoned to your hand using a bonus action, as long as you are on its same plane of existence. You can't be disarmed of that weapon unless you are incapacitated.
Versatile: This weapon can be used with one or two hands. A damage value in parentheses appears with the property–the damage when the weapon is used with two hands to make a melee attack.
Damage: 1d8+1 (1d10+1)
Damage Type: Slashing
Properties: Versatile
Requires Attunement
Weight:
3
Also, the potion of treasure finding:
Potion, rare
This striking potion fills a crystal-clear flask with a viscous, molten-gold liquid that glints and shimmers as if lit from within by an unseen forge. Tiny flecks of iridescent color—emerald greens, ruby reds, sapphire blues, and silvery whites—float and sparkle throughout like a miniaturized hoard of gems and coins suspended in honeyed wealth. When the vial is tilted or shaken, the flecks cascade and swirl dramatically, evoking the rush of discovering buried riches. It carries a heady aroma of warm metal, aged earth, and a faint, tantalizing sweetness like candied gold.
For
one hour
after you drink this potion, you know the direction to the
largest mass of
treasure within 400 ft. of you. Note that a pile of 10,000 cp
will outshine one
with 9000 gp.
And
the mantle
Elron has been carrying in his pack turned out to be the Mantle
of Hope:
Wondrous item, very rare (requires attunement)
While you wear this mantle, undead creatures have disadvantage
on attacks
against you.
Weight: 2 lbs.
Thirty minutes
later, we got everyone into the lumber room, put the coffin
containing the loot
up against the door to block it from being opened, started our
long rest, and
examined the loot.
Elron began attuning to the Mantle of Hope. Later, he attuned to
the Archer’s
longsword which would allow him to summon the sword into his
hand at will.
11:50 AM
Blaze and Breena were guarding the door when Blaze heard the footsteps of an ogre outside. She quietly informed the others. The steps stopped and centered on the dead giant rats outside, then moved on.
2
PM
Elron
was on guard when
he heard someone human-sized, barefoot, walking past alone
outside. About an
hour later they moved back in the other direction.
4
PM
Parahelia
on duty
heard, down the hall in the distance, the howl of several ghouls
from the west;
it sounded like the ghouls found the bodies.
July 7
1
AM
Artie
on duty heard
something pass, a small group.
6
AM
Elron
conjured 3 goodberries.
He took one for himself and
gave one each to Breena and Sinis. The rest of us had rations
for breakfast. We
split up the cash loot. We all got 383 gp, 703 sp, and 409 cp.
Elron kept the 1
pp and 11 ep for party loot.
We had too much really heavy, bulky and trash items so we left them in the lumber room and took the coins, weapons and potion. Elron wanted us to go back with the treasure now. We opened the door and saw the giant rat bodies were gone. We took the underground path back through the Gates of Gloom to the Weird Plantation to the Last One Inn without running into any trouble.
10:30
PM
We
arrived at the
stables of the Last One Inn, where we took a long rest. Elron
cast goodberries
and we all took one.
July

6:30
AM
We
started out heading
to the zombie stables 11 miles away.
Noon
We
arrived at the zombie
stables. It took us another hour to get to the surface; no
encounters along the
way through the Fountain of Pestilence and Mouth of Doom. It
took us another 3
hours to get back to Castle Calaelen.
4
PM
At the
castle where
we took the rest of the day off. The
plan was to go to Zelcor’s Ferry to exchange money. At the
castle our minions
needed more money to hire workers to get the repairs done. Elron
gave them 500
gp, and 2 rubies worth a total of 500 gp.
July 9, Monday
We
went into Zelcor’s Ferry. We bought rations and a health kit at
Rasmus Pye’s
emporium. We exchanged coins for gems at Kalgor’s.
10
AM
We
met back at Bristleback’s Inn. He had both doors open to get a
breeze blowing
through; it’s hot and humid today. It’s too early for either
alcohol or food,
so Blaze was looking for rumors from some of the other patrons.
A traveling merchant named Verdell Whatley had heard that Akbeth, a high priestess of Hecate, the goddess of magic, was
turned into
a statue of living ruby, and is entombed in the dungeon. She
had a magic ring
that allowed her to change shape.
