Session 8: To the Bandit Camp

The Adventurers travel through the Forest of Hope and find the bandits who ambushed Talilia Greysky and her party.

Our scribe, Kay could not make this session so I did a quick write up myself. It is based on our June 28, 2023 session.  Since our group is scattered around the country, we used Discord for our voice communication and Roll20 for our virtual tabletop.

Date: May 3rd, 3517 I.R.  
Location: Zelcor's Ferry

The party headed south through the Forest of Hope. Eventually our Ranger Elron found Talilia's trail. The day passed without incident and some wondered about the forest's reputation, it really didn't seem so bad.

That night they found out.

May 4th
3:30 AM
Breena and Lark were on watch when she heard something in one of the nearby trees. She looked up and saw two huge spiders, both with about a 10-foot leg-span.  She pointed it out to Lark and started to quietly wake the rest of the party. Before she got far, Lark started banging on this shield with the flat of his sword, yelling for everyone to wake up.

The group fought the spiders and killed them, but not before Breena was bitten and poisoned. Fortunately. Para was able to cure the poison which had caused her to be paralyzed.

After the battle, most of the party tried to get back to sleep, not all were successful.

7:00 AM
Back on the trail.

Elron discovered three more sets of tracks; Talilia had been followed for awhile, but the followers had lost the trail and turned back south.

3:00 PM
They found the bandit camp and listened to the bandits who were quite noisy and oblivious to the fact that they were being spied upon.

They soon learned that they were some sort of patrol group working for a sheriff, they went after outlaws. They were also very corrupt, they did shakedowns on caravans and attacked adventurers coming out of dungeons.

The party also spotted Cato, the cleric from Talilia's party.

There were a couple of leaders and a bunch of footmen, two were tending horses.

Lark started banging on his shield and charged into the camp, everyone else followed, attacking the surprised bandits.

Elron cast ensnaring strike on the sergeant in charge, entangling him in thorny vines.
